FAQs
How do lessons work?
For school-age students, I strongly recommend regular weekly lessons. Most students enroll through 10-lesson packages, which reserve a consistent weekly lesson time and support steady musical progress.
Adult students and working professionals may choose either ongoing weekly lessons or flexible scheduling arrangements, depending on availability.
Do you offer lessons during the summer?
Yes. Summer lessons are scheduled separately from the academic year and are arranged on a month-to-month basis. Students may continue regular weekly lessons or choose a more flexible summer schedule.
Do you offer in-home lessons? Can lessons be held at another location?
Yes. In-home lessons are available in select areas and include an additional travel fee. The fee varies depending on location and lesson length. In some cases, lessons may be arranged at an external teaching space. Additional facility or room rental fees may apply.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
To maintain a consistent schedule for all students, tuition reserves a dedicated weekly lesson time and missed lessons are not refunded.
Each student may reschedule one lesson per semester with at least one week’s notice. Whenever possible, the lesson will be moved to another available time during that week. If no suitable time is available, the lesson may instead be made up during the semester’s designated make-up week. Additional rescheduling requests cannot typically be accommodated.
Contact me for more information about the policy.
Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes. Trial lessons are available at 80% of the regular lesson rate. The trial lesson allows us to discuss goals, assess current skills, and determine whether the studio is a good fit. Book it now!
Are there performance opportunities?
Students who demonstrate consistent preparation and commitment may be invited to participate in studio recitals, examinations, competitions, and other performance opportunities.
Participation in certain events may involve additional registration, venue, accompanist, or administrative fees.
Do I need a piano at home? And can you help us choose a piano?
I understand you may not want to immediately invest in an instrument. Piano rentals (preferred) and digital keyboards are great options to begin with.
I am happy to provide general guidance on selecting an acoustic or digital instrument. Personalized consultations and piano-shopping visits are available for an additional fee.
What is your teaching approach?
My teaching emphasizes healthy technique, thoughtful musicianship, and independent learning. Students learn not only how to play the piano, but also how to read music, understand theory, listen critically, and practice effectively.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and may include repertoire, technique, music theory, ear training, performance preparation, and creative exploration. While my background is primarily in classical music, I enjoy helping students explore a wide range of musical styles and interests (jazz, pop, musical, experimental, and more)!
My goal is to help students become confident, independent musicians who can continue learning and enjoying music for years to come.
